Electrical Work in Garner Homes
Sparkwise Electrical Inc works on single-family detached homes across Garner. A large share of the town's housing went up in the decades before the current code cycle, which puts a lot of it at the point where the original panel is near the end of its service life. Adding a car charger, a heat pump or a hot tub to a service that size is the request we get here most often.

What Garner Homes Actually Need
Garner has been a town for a long time and a fast-growing one recently, so its housing splits cleanly into two groups that need almost opposite things.
The established neighborhoods closer to Raleigh bring service and panel work. Smaller services than a modern household draws, aging panels, ungrounded two-prong outlets, and circuits that have been extended over the decades until the original design is hard to follow. Kitchens and laundry rooms are where that usually shows up first.
The newer subdivisions bring additions instead. A charger in the garage, a standby generator, a hot tub or workshop circuit, whole-home surge protection, or a panel that was sized for the house as built and is now full.
In both cases the question before adding a large load is what the existing service can actually carry. That is a load calculation, not a guess, and it is cheaper to check before you buy the charger than after.

When Something Is Not Working Right
If a breaker keeps tripping, lights flicker, an outlet has gone dead or you notice a burning smell, that is a diagnostic visit rather than quoted work, because the fault has to be found before anyone can honestly price the repair. The diagnostic visit is $89: we come out, find the fault and give you a written price for the fix. The $89 covers the visit and the diagnosis and is charged in addition to the repair. Estimates are free on quoted work such as panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, rewires, new circuits and lighting.

How the Work Goes

01
We Look Before We Quote: On quoted work we assess what the house actually needs and what the existing service can carry, so the price you get reflects the real job rather than a guess made from the driveway.
02
Permits and Inspections Handled: Where the work needs a permit we pull it and coordinate the inspection and any utility disconnect, so you are not left chasing the county or the power company yourself.
03
A Clear Schedule: We tell you which day the work happens and how long the power is off. Most residential jobs are finished in a single visit rather than stretched across a week.
04
Labeled and Tested: Circuits are labeled and tested before we leave, so the next person who opens that panel can see what everything does.
05
Backed After We Leave: Every job is backed by a lifetime warranty on labor and workmanship, plus up to 15 years on materials. Generator installations include the first year of maintenance at no charge.

Who Inspects the Work in Garner
Garner runs its own Inspections Department. The town's guidance is explicit that electrical work needs a trade permit from that department, and the department schedules and performs the electrical rough-in, ground work and final inspections through the town's own permit portal.
There is one thing here that trips people up. Wake County does handle erosion and sedimentation control for Garner, and Garner appears on county lists for that reason. It does not follow that the county pulls your electrical permit. For building and trade permits, Garner is its own authority.
We pull the permit, coordinate the utility disconnect and reconnect, and meet the inspector on site. You should not have to pull your own permit for a service change, and it is worth being wary of any electrician who asks you to. We do not invoice a permitted job until it has passed. Rated 5.0 on Google and BBB accredited.
