Wendell, From the Next Town Over
Wendell went from 5,845 people to 9,793 between the 2010 and 2020 censuses, and it has not slowed down since. We are the next town over, so we have watched it happen from the inside of a lot of panels.
Growth like that produces a very specific pair of electrical problems, and they sit about a mile apart.

Two Wendells, a Mile Apart
Off Wendell Boulevard and around the historic district, the houses are old enough that the electrical system was designed for a different century. Sixty and one hundred amp services, ungrounded receptacles, no AFCI protection anywhere, and in the oldest of them the original cloth wiring still doing the work. These are good houses. They just need the electrical brought up to what the family actually uses.
Out toward Wendell Falls and the newer developments off I-87, the wiring is modern and the problem is space and load. Every slot in the panel is spoken for before the family gets around to the garage circuit, the hot tub or the car charger. We do a lot of subpanels in Wendell for exactly this reason, because a subpanel costs a fraction of a service upgrade and solves the same problem in most houses.

Sparkwise Electrical Inc
What We Install and Repair
Electrical panel upgrades and service replacements, whole-home and partial rewiring, new dedicated circuits for appliances and equipment, EV charger installation, standby generator connections and interlock kits, whole-house surge protection, grounding and bonding corrections, hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, interior, outdoor and landscape lighting, ceiling fans and fixtures, and diagnostics when something is not working the way it should. We also install outlets, switches and GFCI upgrades, hot tub and spa circuits and Tesla Wall Connectors, and we do electrical safety inspections. We wire to the 2020 National Electrical Code that North Carolina currently follows.

How the Work Goes

01
We Look Before We Quote: On quoted work we assess what the house actually needs and what the existing service can carry, so the price you get reflects the real job rather than a guess made from the driveway.
02
Permits and Inspections Handled: Where the work needs a permit we pull it and coordinate the inspection and any utility disconnect, so you are not left chasing the county or the power company yourself.
03
A Clear Schedule: We tell you which day the work happens and how long the power is off. Most residential jobs are finished in a single visit rather than stretched across a week.
04
Labeled and Tested: Circuits are labeled and tested before we leave, so the next person who opens that panel can see what everything does.
05
Backed After We Leave: Every job is backed by a lifetime warranty on labor and workmanship, plus up to 15 years on materials. Generator installations include the first year of maintenance at no charge.

Questions Wendell Homeowners Ask Us
Where are you based?
Zebulon, the next town over. Most Wendell jobs are a ten-minute drive.
Who issues the electrical permit in Wendell?
The application goes through Wake County's permit portal, but Wendell's own planning staff process it. Wake County does the inspection under contract with the town. We pull the permit and we meet the inspector.
My house is in a newer Wendell development and the panel is full. What are my options?
Usually a subpanel, sometimes load management, occasionally a full service upgrade. In that order of cost, and we will tell you which one your house actually needs.
Do older Wendell houses need rewiring, or just repairs?
Full rewires are rarer than people are told. More often it is the panel, the grounding and a handful of circuits. We price both so you can see the difference.
Can you add a circuit for a hot tub or a workshop?
Yes, and that is one of the more common jobs we do in Wendell.
Do you charge to come out to Wendell?
Repairs are an $89 diagnostic visit: we come out, find the fault and give you a written price for the fix. The $89 covers the visit and the diagnosis and is charged in addition to the repair. Quoted work is free to estimate. No travel charge anywhere in the ten counties we serve.
Do you do the permit and the inspection, or do I?
We do. The permit, the booking and meeting the inspector are all included in the price.

Who Inspects the Work in Wendell
Wendell splits permits and inspections between two offices. The application for your panel, your generator or your EV charger goes through the Wake County permit portal, but it is Wendell's own planning staff who process it. The inspection is the county's. Wake County Permits and Inspections handles that under a contract with Wendell, the same arrangement the county has with Knightdale, Rolesville and Zebulon. Wendell keeps the zoning inspections in house.
On work that needs a permit, we pull it, we book the inspection and we are there to meet the inspector. County field inspections run from 7:15 in the morning, so you are not taking a day off to sit and wait for someone.
We do not invoice a permitted job until it has passed. Rated 5.0 on Google and BBB accredited.
