Residential electrician serving Raleigh
Sparkwise Electrical Inc works throughout Raleigh on single-family detached homes. We are based just east of the city in Zebulon, which keeps us close enough to schedule across most of Wake County while staying a small local team rather than a dispatch center.
We are licensed and insured, and residential is all we do. We bring over 50 years of combined team experience, and every job is wired to the 2020 National Electrical Code that North Carolina currently follows.
Raleigh homes span a century, and the wiring shows it
The electrical work a Raleigh home needs usually comes down to when it was built. In the older neighborhoods closer to the center of the city we regularly find original service panels that have run out of usable space, two-prong outlets with no ground, aluminum branch wiring from the late sixties and seventies, and remnants of knob and tube tucked behind later work. Those houses generally need a service upgrade before anything else can be added safely.
Newer construction across the north and west of the city brings a different list, and it is nearly always about capacity. A Level 2 EV charger, a hot tub circuit, a generator interlock or a finished bonus room all need dedicated capacity that the original panel was never sized for.
The work we are called out for most often is electrical panel upgrades and service replacements, whole-home and partial rewiring, new dedicated circuits for appliances and equipment, EV charger installation, standby generator connections and interlock kits, whole-house surge protection, grounding and bonding corrections, hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, interior, outdoor and landscape lighting, ceiling fans and fixtures, and diagnostics when something is not working the way it should. We pull permits and coordinate inspections, and we wire to the 2020 National Electrical Code that North Carolina currently follows.
Diagnostics and repairs
Tripping breakers, flickering lights, dead outlets and burning smells all need a diagnosis before anyone can honestly price a repair. We treat those as diagnostic visits rather than quoted work.
Estimates are free on quoted work such as panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, rewires, new circuits and lighting. If a job needs a diagnosis first, repairs start with an $89 diagnostic visit. We come out, find the fault and give you a written price for the fix. The $89 covers the visit and the diagnosis and is charged in addition to the repair. Most repairs come to $150 to $550 on top of that visit.
Warranty, discounts and hours
Every job is backed by a lifetime warranty on labor and workmanship, plus up to 15 years on materials. Generator installations include the first year of maintenance at no charge. We offer 5% off for first responders, military and teachers.
We are open 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. Normal rates apply Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; work outside those hours carries an after-hours rate, agreed on the phone before booking.
