Residential Electrician in Wilson, NC
Sparkwise Electrical Inc works on single-family homes across Wilson and Wilson County, about a half-hour east of our base in Zebulon. We are licensed and insured, we work on single-family homes including manufactured and mobile homes, and we are open seven days a week from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
One thing that makes Wilson different
Most of the Triangle is served by a large investor-owned power company. Wilson is not. The city runs its own municipal electric utility, Wilson Energy, one of the larger municipal electric systems in North Carolina, serving tens of thousands of customers across the city.
For a homeowner, that matters in one practical way. When a job involves the service drop, the meter, or a disconnect and reconnect, such as a panel upgrade, a service upgrade, or a mast repair after storm damage, the coordination goes through Wilson Energy rather than through the utility that covers most of our other towns. It is a different phone number and a different scheduling process, and it is one of the more common reasons a straightforward panel job in Wilson takes longer than a homeowner expects.
We plan around it. When we quote a service or panel upgrade in Wilson, the quote accounts for the utility coordination and the City of Wilson inspection, so the timeline you are given is the real one.
Older houses, older wiring
Wilson has a lot of housing built well before modern electrical demand existed. In homes of that age we regularly find 60- or 100-amp services feeding a house that now runs central air, a heat pump, a laundry pair and a kitchen full of appliances; fuse panels still in service; ungrounded two-prong outlets; and branch circuits extended over the decades until nothing quite matches the original design.
None of that is unusual and none of it means a house is unsafe today. It does mean the panel is often the limiting factor on anything you want to add, and it is the first thing worth looking at before spending money on a new circuit that the existing service cannot really support.
What we do in Wilson
Electrical panel and service upgrades. Whole-house and partial rewiring. New circuits for kitchens, laundry, workshops and garages. EV charger installation. Standby generator installation and hookup. Interior and exterior lighting, ceiling fans, and hot tub and spa circuits. Whole-home surge protection. Troubleshooting for breakers that trip, lights that flicker, outlets that have gone dead, or anything that smells wrong.
Estimates and diagnostic visits
Free estimates on quoted work. Panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, rewires, new circuits and lighting all get a written quote before anything starts.
If something has gone wrong and nobody knows why yet, repairs start with an $89 diagnostic visit. We come out, find the fault and give you a written price for the fix. The $89 covers the visit and the diagnosis and is charged in addition to the repair. Most repairs come to $150 to $550 on top of that visit.
5% off for first responders, military and teachers. Police, fire, EMS and similar, anyone serving in the military, and teachers. Mention it when you book.
Behind the work
Every job is backed by a lifetime warranty on labor and workmanship, plus up to 15 years on materials. We put it in writing before we start.
